So FF7 is getting a PS4 port…..

Yes that is correct, Square-Enix is going to be releasing a PS4 version of the iconic FF7 (one of my favourite games) now before you start jumping for joy over the potential based on the tech-demo released many years ago for the PS3. You will be sad to hear that it is only a port….of the PC version, yup not a remake, not a remaster, not anything beyond a port of the x86 version of the already released game. 🙁

With all the remasters of the FF10 and Kingdom Hearts games, I would’ve hoped for something more….something special, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Playstation. I understand that it would not have been an easy feat to carry out a remake of the game itself, with Square-Enix likely having to start from scratch and recreate everything, but they have the tools it would just seem they are after money for old rope.

I guess I am a bit upset, I mean I can see the reasons for why they would not want to remaster it. There is always a chance that it could be done poorly, there is a chance that it could lose the charm the game has with the poor graphics. Simply, the rest of the game may not hold up to todays standards if released fully afresh.

I remember the amount of hype the tech-demo created, way back when it was shown. I remember the hope it created for lots of people, where we might see a fully HD Sector 7. It would seem that we are going to be waiting just a bit longer for this to happen, or if it will ever happen.
