King Con and The Play Expo

King Con – 11th October 2015

In just over two weeks time, the mighty King Con will be bringing geeky goodness to Durham for the second time. It was my good friends over at www.teambanana.co.uk that made me aware of this event and they have invited me up to take a look.

King Con 2015 looks like it is going to be jam packed with traders, workshops, competitions and special guests. Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) will be there signing autographs and you can have your picture taken with the Back to the Future 2 DeLorean. Now It wouldn’t be a con without some kind of CosPlay and not to be left out, KingCon will be offering a large prize for the person with the best!

Spread over three floors, King Con 2015 is going to be decked out to offer an interactive experience of comic and film sets, including the dark city streets of Gotham, Emmett’s Lab with the DeLorean in tow, a Jurassic Zone and the Star Wars Experience.

There will be an area for the retro gamers among us, contained within the same area will be the board games and tcg game area where experts will be happy to teach you how to play.

Play Expo – 10-11th October 2015

If you do not know about the Play Expo by now, where have you been?! As one of the largest conventions held in the UK it now caters to almost every corner of the geeky culture. Including film/tv,retro gaming, modern gaming, eSports, CosPlay etc.

Not so well hidden down in Manchester, it has grown over several years to require almost all of the space EventCity can give it. This year it is going to be even bigger than last years! Once again it is going to be complete with classic arcades and retro consoles. Traders selling retro games and even more merchandise will be back, but there will be plenty to do with just as many tournaments running and special guests and guest speakers.
