Northampton, UK – September 25, 2014 StarTech.com, a leading manufacturer of hard-to-find connectivity parts, has announced the release of two Ultra HD 4K USB 3.0 Video Adapters, including a USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 4K Video Adapter (SKU: USB32DP4K) and a USB 3.0 to HDMI 4K Video Adapter (SKU: USB32HD4K). The new adapters enable users to connect their USB 3.0-equipped laptop or desktop computer to a 4K television, display or projector, even if the computer does not natively support 4K video.

The adapters feature a chipset that offers a true plug-and-play experience. When connected to a host computer, the adapters will automatically verify that the newest drivers are installed and if necessary download the most recent versions and prompt users to update.

“4K displays are becoming more readily available in the market, but not everyone has a powerful enough laptop, Ultrabook or desktop video card to drive a 4K monitor” said John Mardinly, Senior Product Manager for StarTech.com’s line of USB Video Adapters. “Our USB 3.0 to 4K adapters let you take advantage of resolutions supported by Ultra HD displays for applications that require an added level of graphical clarity and detail, such as photo editing, graphic design and multimedia creation”.

Features of StarTech.com’s USB 3.0 to 4K Video Adapters include:

  • Ultra HD 4K support through USB 3.0, even if the host computer doesn’t natively support 4K output
  • DisplayLink 4K Plug and Display™ certified – automatic driver installation and updates
  • USB 3.0 host connection provides maximum bandwidth for 4K Ultra HD output
  • USB-powered performance – no additional power supply required

MSRP for StarTech.com’s USB 3.0 to DisplayPort 1.2 4K Video Adapter (SKU: USB32DP4K) is £89.99 (GBP exc. VAT) in the UK. The USB32DP4K will be available from Insight, Misco, Amazon.co.uk and Dabs and is also distributed by Enta, Ingram Micro and Exertis Micro-P.
