Shenmue 1 + 2 Getting Remaster Treatment

Shenmue 1 and 2 are getting remastered later this year.

You read that right, Yu Suzuki’s series of open world role playing games are being ported to PC, PlayStation and Xbox One consoles and are expected to be released before the end of the year. Though having not played the games it is a series that has been recommended to me many a time and I have managed to catch it being run at a number of speedrun events. However there was often a lot of focus on the Duck Racing…

The remasters appear hot on the heels of the soon to be released Shenmue 3 that is a tiny bit delayed from the December 2017 release slated in the Kickstarter.

This will be good for those people that never got a chance to play the originals as they happened, and refuse to pay the inflated prices for the games as they currently stand or do not want to emulate the games on their PC in a janky way.

The remasters are apparently staying true to source, by only improving on a few small areas. Modernised features being the big change, including scalable screen resolutions, a choice of control schemes, configurable PC graphics, an updated UI, and my personal favourite being the choice of Japanese or English voice overs.

The announcement trailer is below for you to watch and I am already to part with my money!
