ZOTAC ZBOX EN760 Plus Review

Performance

With all that unboxing out of the way, let’s do a bit of testing and a bit of playing. All benchmarks unless otherwise stated were run at 1920×1080 using the pre-sets available in the in game benchmark tool.

PC MARK 8 Creative Test
Up first we have is the PC Mark 8 Creative test, which includes workloads typical of enthusiasts and professionals who work with media and entertainment content. With more demanding requirements than the Home benchmark, this benchmark is suitable for mid-range computer systems. PCMark 8 Creative includes web browsing, photo editing, video editing, group video chat, media transcoding, and gaming workloads.

3DMark 11 was the next test, I ran the benchmark in the two standard modes of Performance and Extreme to get a good idea of just what the ZBOX could do.

Gaming tests were next, with the usual barrage of games thrown at the ZBOX in earnest.

Tomb Raider was the first benchmark, it sees the reboot of the franchise and sees you play as a wildly different Lara Croft, experiencing her origins.

Next up was Sleeping Dogs, which is a cracking game if you get a chance to pick it up the Steam sales.

Hitman, for when you want to play as a contract killer was the next in the queue.

Metro Last Light was the next game in the run, lots of benchmarks today! For both runs advanced PhysX was enabled.

Bioshock Infinite last but certainly not least was up next.

After the bombardment of tests and bechmarks I have to say I was impressed. Temperature wise the ZBOX didn’t seem to break much of a sweat. The CPU got a bit warm but the max I saw it get to was around the low mid 60’s the graphics card went a bit higher and occasionally crept into the 70’s, but all the tests were performed in a massively hot room which was around 28 degrees at ambient so really good performance.

Beyond the benchmarks I did actually play some games on it, and it was a really nice piece of hardware the cooling system remained quiet as did the hard drive even though it was sat next to me, and although it does have an orange light on the top it didn’t distract me during playing at all.
